Week Thirty Two
March 27-31: Participate in Equality Film Festival. Students will have the opportunity to explore the struggle for civil rights, women's rights, disability rights, or LGBTQ rights by viewing films of their choice. Film is often used to raise awareness about injustice, build empathy, and foster understanding of diverse perspectives. It can also perpetuate stereotypes or political propaganda. Students will complete a viewing guide in which they identify the key message of the film they watch while considering the evolving fight for equal rights in America through the lens of the 14th amendment.

Traditional PSL will read and discuss excerpts from the The Slave Across the Street and watch Theresea Flores' TED Talk or 19 News series on trafficking in Northeast Ohio (part 1, part 2, and part 3). Honors PSL will read and discuss Aryn Baker’s 2019 article “She Survived Sex Trafficking. Now She Wants to Show Other Women a Way Out.”
Homework: Honors PSL students should select a book for their independent reading project.
Tuesday, March 7 - PSL Advisory Board Meeting
5-15 students needed to provide feedback on previous units, discuss request from Perry American Legion for assistance with their MIA Memorial Project, establish criteria for new PSL scholarship opportunity, and help plan 100 service hour club picnic.

Draft a letter to an elected official asking them to take action on pending legislation seeking to prevent trafficking, protect victims, or prosecute traffickers. Send your draft to the appropriate elected official and have Mr. Soeder, or Mrs. Trentanelli witness your submission and assess it using this rubric.
