PERRY VOLUNTEER CORPSAre you looking for ways to give back to your community? Consider joining the Perry Volunteer Corps. Established in 2017, the Perry Volunteer Corps affords adults the opportunity to oversee and serve alongside seniors in the Perry Service Learning (PSL) program.
Since the founding of PSL in 2005, the number of community programs housed on the campus of the Perry Local Schools has grown from one to eight. As a result, there is a need for adults to supervise PSL students to ensure that they have a positive service experience. Perry Volunteer Corps members have the opportunity to share their personal and professional knowledge with PSL students while working together to support one of the following programs in our community: |

- Allows young alumni, seasoned professionals, or senior citizens to give back to their community
- Provides PSL volunteers with role models who can provide guidance and support
- Strengthens PSL programs designed to address needs that exist in our community
Responsibilities of Perry Volunteer Corps Members
- Supervise student volunteers in one of the aforementioned programs for 9 months
- Interview volunteer candidates in September, review resumes, and select your student volunteer team
- Establish clear expectations and goals for PSL volunteers
- Volunteer alongside PSL students 1-2 hours per week throughout the school year
- Out of town? No problem. Ask about opportunities to mentor PSL volunteers remotely.
- Coach PSL volunteers in the areas of soft skills, professionalism, and communication
- Regularly check-in with PSL teachers to review progress of PSL volunteers towards established goals
- Evaluate PSL volunteers at the end of each grading period
