PSL Student Philanthropy Program

PictureTroy Kifer and Joey Velecheck, class of '14, present a $1,500 grant to Tami Fitzgerald of Give A Wig.
The PSL Student Philanthropy Program began in 2012 when Perry High School was accepted as a partner school by Magnified Giving.  Magnified Giving's mission is to educate, inspire, and engage students in philanthropy.  As a Magnified Giving partner, the PSL program received $1,500 and students were charged with identifying and researching local non-profits, sending out requests for proposals, conducting site visits, reviewing completed grant applications, and selecting one agency to award the funds too.

In addition to providing students with authentic tasks that enhance classroom discussions, participation in the Magnified Giving program also helps to develop more responsible citizens.  Research shows that students who participated in the Magnified Giving program were more likely to volunteer, donate to charities, and serve on non-profit boards.

Our ultimate goal is make the Student Philanthropy Program a self-sustaining component of the PSL course.  Your support is vital to the success of this program.  Please consider making a donation today.  Checks can be made payable to Perry High School and mailed to:
