Manure Stinks. Your Introductory Email Should Not.In this lesson, students will send introductory emails to three partner agencies that they are interested in volunteering for and share their resume with each one.
As Will Rogers once said, "You will never get a second chance to make a first impression." Please follow all of the steps below to ensure that you get your first choice. Otherwise, you may spend your first semester stuck knee deep in the Giving Garden compost bin shoveling fresh manure to enrich the soil. Avoid this sad fate. |
Part One: Resume Touch Up
1. Select up to 3 partner agencies that you are interested in volunteering with.
3. Save your resume as a .pdf using the following format: YourLastName_Resume_AgencyName.pdf

Part Two: Composing Emails to Partner Agencies
1. Compose a new email message using your perry-stu.com account.
2. Copy and paste the email template below into the body of the message.
3. Edit the message to include the agency contact person's name, the agency name, etc.
4. Edit the text so the entire message is the same font and same type size. Make sure that nothing is in bold or italics. Make sure that no extra spaces/lines were added in the process of copying and pasting. It should appear EXACTLY as it does below.
5. Copy both Mr. Soeder ([email protected]) and Mrs. Trentanelli ([email protected]) in the CC section of the email message. You should do this with ALL email communications you exchange with your service agency throughout the year.
6. Attach resume as a .pdf file, and consider attaching the your video introduction.
7. When all of the above steps are complete, you may send the email. Note...this counts as a summative assessment so it is critical that you complete each step.
8. Repeat all of the above steps up to three (3) times.
