Lesson 8:  Conducting Site Visits

PicturePSL students on a site visit at the Geauga Humane Soceity.
Magnified Giving strongly encourages students to conduct site visits at the agencies they nominated.  In addition to providing students with a hands-on learning learning opportunity, these visits empower students to make decisions about where to grant their money.

The site visit enables students to get to know the organziation in a way they just couldn't understand by simply reading the completed grant application.  A basic rule every development professional understands is that people give money to people - not programs.   The site visit allows students to see where their money is being invested and the people whose lives will be affected by their investment.

Scheduling your site visit

The student director of the Perry Service Learning Student Philanthropy Program will accompany you on your site visit and assist with scheduling the visit if the agency you nominated advanced past the phone conference call round.  To expedite this process, please fill out the form completely.  Note:  Please consider the agency's days/hours of operation before determining your preferred dates.  You are encouraged to visit your agency during your PSL time on Tuesday or Thursday.  Missing any other class will be treated as an unexcused absence and will not be permitted.
