Being Young & Making An Impact
After reviewing the transcript of Natalie Warne's Ted Talk, students will answer the following questions in the notes/classroom activities section of their PSL notebook:
- Discuss what is interesting about the talk, examine the speaker's representation of the events, and/or reflect on the speaker's thoughts/actions.
- Define "anonymous extraordinary" and evaluate how that might apply to the service you will engage in this year
- What question(s) does this talk generate that we need to address?
Professional Communications
Writing an Introductory Email
Today is your opportunity to make a positive and powerful first impression. To help initiate your volunteer experience, please send an introductory email to your assigned agency supervisor.
1. Compose a new email message using your perry-stu.com email account. 2. Copy and paste the introductory email template into the body of the message. 3. Edit the message to include your supervisor's name, your service agency name, etc. 4. Edit the text so that the entire message is the same font and same type size. Make sure nothing is noted in bold type or italics. |
"You will never get a second change to make a first impression." |
5. Copy both Mr. Soeder ([email protected]) and Mrs.Trentanelli ([email protected]) in the CC section of the email message. You should do this with ALL email communications you exchange with your service agency throughout the year.
6. When all of the above steps are complete, bring your Chromebook to Mr. Soeder or Mrs. Trentanelli. We will proofread the document again with you, provide you with the email address of your supervisor, and watch you send.
If you send this email before we directly instruct you to, then you will receive a zero for this summative assignment.
