Service times: Anytime between 9:20am-10:50am Tuesdays and Thursdays, plus select Tuesday evenings from 6:15-7:15pm Service requirement: 2 hours per week Agency description: The Pirate Power Pack program is a collaborative effort between PSL and The Perry Center to provide a weekend supply of nutritious food for children, commonly from low-income families, to replace the school meals that children miss during their weekend or extended breaks from school. Each weekend food bag contains enough food for two breakfasts, two lunches, three dinners, and one snack. Though the program is intended to help those children whose families find it difficult to have enough food for the entire month, all children are eligible for this program. Children will be able to opt-in and opt-out of the program. Job description: Volunteers will be responsible for managing all aspects of the program. This involves coordinating with The Perry Center to order food, unloading food deliveries, stocking food pantry shelves, packing power packs, delivering to PES teachers on Thursdays, picking up returned bags on Tuesday, preparing menus, notes, and special items to be included in the bags each week, maintaining accurate records, securing donations, hosting volunteer groups, and promoting the program. |
