Activity One - Peer Evaluation
In addition to helping out another writer, engaging in peer revision activities help you become more aware of the writing process, which in turn can benefit your own work, especially when it comes to editing and revising drafts.
Directions
1. Exchange essays with a classmate (either hard copy or via Google docs). Review the assessment checklist (rubric) and thoughtfully review your classmate's work.
2. Using rubric-specific language, provide specific feedback to the author by identifying one area where he/she was successful, and one area that could be improved. This should either be typed as a comment within the Google doc, or written on the hard copy. Once complete, conference with your classmate and provide verbal feedback on his/her writing. Allow your classmate to do the same with your writing.
3. When finished, reflect on/implement suggestions as you continue to refine your paper.
