Positions available: 5 (2 morning volunteers and 3 afternoon volunteers)
Riverside Program Mornings: 8:45-11:15 a.m. Afternoons: 12:15-2:45 p.m.
Fairport Program Mornings: 8:30-11 a.m. Afternoons 12:30 - 3:00 p.m.
Service requirement: 3.5 hours per week
Agency description: The Lake County Educational Service Center's Early Childhood program provides quality services and integrated programming to preschool children through Lake County. Early Childhood services are provided in a variety of settings including public and private preschools, kindergarten classrooms, and in the home. The children served by the Lake County Early Childhood Team are referred through the local school district's special education director. Our preschool team consists of:
- Center-based Classroom Teachers
- Speech/Language Pathologists
- Occcupational Therapists
- Early Childhood School Psychologist
Job descriptions: Lake County ESC has volunteer opportunities in its preschool classrooms. Students can assist the teachers in daily activities and may prepare materials. Students will also oobtain valuable skills in the following areas; orientation to teaching profession, subject matter knowledge, communication skills, effective learning environments, classroom management, planning instruction, teaching strategies, technology skills in the classroom, and school/society relationships.
