Positions Available: 3
Service Times: 1 volunteer Monday from 6-8pm; 1 volunteer Wednesday from 6-8pm; and 1 volunteer Friday afternoons between 1-5pm Service Requirement: 2 hours per week Program Description: Fieldstone Farm remains one of the largest and most respected therapeutic riding centers in the country. Since our founding over three decades ago, we have helped thousands of people of all ages and with all types of challenges achieve what they thought was impossible. Children have taken their first steps after riding our horses. Others have said their first words and became inspired to learn. And all students and their families have found hope, joy and acceptance, as well as a welcome respite from the trials of living with a disability or special need whether it is autism, depression, anxiety, memory loss, sensory impairments, cerebral palsy, developmental delays or multiple sclerosis, among others. Volunteer Duties: Our volunteers come from all backgrounds and ages. Many have little personal experience with horses or people with disabilities. Some are teenagers who are earning service hours. Others are retired teachers, social workers or business people looking to give back. And some are lifelong horse people who feel the calling to help people understand how the bond between a horse and a human can change a life. While some of our volunteers have experience with horses or working with people with special needs, it is by no means a requirement. All of our volunteers, no matter their experience, attend an orientation to familiarize themselves with our safety and operational procedures. There are many ways in which our volunteers give back. Please review our volunteer pages on our web page for more information. |
