Agency description: Families Moving Forward is a daytime center for the guest families of Project Hope for the Homeless, the only emergency homeless shelter in Lake County. This program fills a gap in service by meeting the needs of these families when no other service providers are open. From 1 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, families attending Families Moving Forward will find a child-friendly site where they will not only receive healthy after-school snacks, but also quiet spaces for homework, naps, age-appropriate playtime, and a safe location out of inclement weather and the dangers of staying on the streets.
Volunteer description: Daytime and evening volunteers are needed to assist staff and spend time with families. Volunteers must be 18 years of age. Visit www.projecthopeonline.org to complete an application.
