Service requirement:  3.5 hours per week

School profile:  Maple Elementary School is located in the city of Painesville. It was one of three brand new school buildings that the Painesville City Schools opened for the 2008-09 school year.  The school includes grades K-5 and a diverse student body.   

Job description:  Maple Elementary seeks volunteers to assist teachers with students who are struggling in the classroom and by tutoring in one-on-one and small group settings.  Teachers will provide volunteers with books, worksheets, and vocabulary work that are at an appropriate level for the students in need of assistance.  Volunteers may also work with the building social worker, who has instituted a reading and vocabular intervention program for at-risk students,.
