Ability Awareness Program
Since 2009, PSL students have organized ability awareness programs to educate the community about the abilities of people with disabilities. The program was initially called "A Walk in Their Shoes" and featured screenings of Including Samuel, Shooting Beauty, and performances by The Ohio School for the Blind Marching Band.
In 2016, PSL students teamed up with the Design Learning program at Perry Elementary School to educate students in the 3rd and 4th grades about both physical and developmental disabilities. Specifically, students have the opportunity to learn about the accommodations, adaptive equipment and assistive technology that enable people with special needs to fully participate in family, school, work, and community life. |
The event typically takes place during March in honor of Developmental Disabilities Awareness month. If you have questions about this event, please contact Mark Soeder or Allison Trentanelli at [email protected] or [email protected]
